This Town: Episode 17
The final episode!!!
Firstly, special thanks to Liz Bulkley for the spot-on voicemail performance in the opening scene.
Although the final 2 scenes in this episode are in the same location, we had to shoot on different days.

This Town: Episode 16
A big thanks to all my coworkers and friends for filling out the dating montage! Note: the "wasabi incident" is based on an actual first date...in a restaurant no less. Enjoy

This Town: Episode 15
It all ends in a hail of gunfire.

That's what I want on my tombstone.
This scene was a blast to shoot - too many puns - and the most expensive.
We hired an pyrotechnics expert to rig 2 sweat shirts with 4 squibs each, then shot both shirts going off back to back and cut them together. We did this in case there was some sort of a misfire with the squib trigger, or we weren't rolling, or if the blood went all over the lens. As you can see, it did : ) but we kept it! We also shot a behind-the-scenes video while filming this take, I'll include it later on once it's digitized off the Hi8 (yes, Hi8) tape. You'll see how we had to cover the entire room in plastic to avoid getting blood everywhere. That's partly why we shot at such a low angle - you would see the plastic draped over the furniture. We still managed to get blood on the ceiling. My landlord didn't seem to notice when I moved out.

This Town: Episode 14
Episode 14: Building Bridges.
Or not.
There's a lot of screaming in this one - amazingly the neighbors didn't call the cops, because it went on, take after take after take.
Thanks again to Monica & Adam for letting us take over their groovy apartment for this and the dinner scene.

The 2 Live Crew with our soon to be untethered couple.

This Town: Episode 13
Another no-permits/no-insurance/show up/shoot/run like hell situation.

Yes, the ladder was a bit cumbersome, but it was easier than trying to stuff a jib into the back of the Volkswagen.

What's the difference between God and a DP?

God doesn't think he's a DP.

This Town: Episode 12
Some fun stuff that worked very well here.
I shot the coffee close ups with a consumer camera when we had a down day. It looks pretty good - almost as if there's some sort of effect added in post. Then me & Tom (Christof Reinhold) worked out the music in real time while watching the video playback.
For the "dubbed" section I owe a debt of gratitude to Jackie Mow for the Chinese translations, and to her and Tom (Krymkowski) for the vocal performance.
